 Kembara Pengubat Rindu Alhamdullilah, kami telah berjaya mengadakan satu pengembaraan setelah hampir 2 tahun kami tidak ride bersama-sama. Ride terakhir kami adalah Ride Himalaya pada tahun 2019. Route kami kali ini adalah: Kuala Terengganu - Sungai Petani - Hatyai - Yala - Pattani - Betong - Penang - Jeli - Kuala Terengganu Day 01: 14 May 2022 Kuala Terengganu - Sungai Petani (412 km) Kami memulakan perjalanan agak lewat sikit harini kerana aku terpaksa menunggu isteriku tiba di Kuala Terengganu dari Kuala Lumpur menaiki kapal terbang. Kapal terbang AirAsia mendarat pada pukul 10:50 pagi di lapangan terbang Kuala Terengganu. Selepas saja makan tengahari kami terus pulang rumah untuk bersiap-siap. Kami memulakan perjalanan pada pukul 12:40 tengahari. Kami melalui Banjaran Titiwangsa (Jeli - Gerik) yang mengambil masa 4 jam 30 minit untuk sampai ke Castella Cafe. Cuaca harini sungguh panas sepanjang perjalanan. Sampai di sini saja, isteriku terus terjun dalam air sungai sangat sejuk. T

GUIDELINES: PREPARATION TO RIDE IN LAOS


Based on my experience rode to Laos on 22 - 30 November 2014, you may use this guideline as your preparation to ride in Laos:

                 KUALA LUMPUR:

    • To get Permission Letter from Laos Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (1-2 months before ride):
      •  Write the letter to Laos Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. My sample's letter: Please click at here.
      • You need to attach one copy of Passport and one copy of Motorcycle's Grant for all participants with your letter.
      • Send letter to Embassy of The Lao People's Democratic Republic at No.7, Jalan Mesra, Off Jalan Damai, 55000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Coordinate: (N 03.16402, E 101.72982).
      • You need to pay, RM 90.00 (Click here: Receipt)
      • You will get a letter after 3 working days. Sample letter, click here



    • Prepare your proper journey plan, what I called "Ride on Paper" - Click here . Especially when you are ride alone. Please include hotels, emergency contact numbers, date and etc.
    • Please send your "Ride on Paper" by email to Malaysia Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand (mwbangkok@kln.gov.my and roszaini@kln.gov.my) along with your scan passport and motorcycle grant. (For acknowledgement and emergency respond)
    • Please send your "Ride on Paper" by email to Malaysia Embassy in Vientiane, Laos (malvntian@kln.gov.my) along with your scan passport, motorcycle grant and Permission Letter from Laos Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. They will send letter to all the Province Offices in Laos as per our Ride Route. Click here. You need to get one copy if not you need to go Malaysia Embassy in Vientiane, Laos (Coordinate: N 17.972896, E 102.622513)

                 
    • Please make 3 copies of your passport.
    • Please make 3 copies of your motor's grant.
                 DANNOK, SADAO (MALAYSIA-THAILAND):
    • Please print and fill up 2 copies of TM2 form (Click here TM2 Form) before arrive Sadao Border. You need stamp both of them in Counter No #7 along with you passport stamping. They will keep one copy and we will keep one copy to be submitted at Nong Kai Border. You need to pay RM 1 or 10 Thai Baht here.
    • Get your "Vehicle Entering Permit" at Counter No # 9
  
               NONG KAI (THAILAND-LAOS):

               # The border gate will closed at 06:00 pm Laos Time (7:00pm Malaysia Time)
              
               Thailand Side:
    • Stamp your passport.
    • Pass the TM2 form to Immigration.
    • You need to pay 20 Thai Baht here. Please make sure, you have the right amount of money. They will not give you the balance back.
    • Pass the "Vehicle Entering Permit" to Thailand Custom.
                Laos Side:
    • Fill up Departure / Arrival Form (White colour)
    • Stamp your passport at Immigration.
    • First Timer: Go to Custom Counter. Fill up the "Vehicle Entering Permit" and get the Head of Custom Officer at Room #15 (Ground floor of double storey building on the right) for signature in permit.
    • Show your Permission Letter from Embassy Laos in Kuala Lumpur to Head of Custom Officer.
    • Bring back the signed permit to Custom Counter and you need to pay KIP 25,000 (RM 10 or Thai Baht 100)(Receipt). You need to show motor's grant (Please check your grant's expiry). They will fill up vehicle's information into their system.
    • Custom will give you "Vehicle Entering Permit" (Green Colour)
    • You may use Thai Baht here or you can change it at Money Changers, 50m on the left.
    • You need to buy Vehicle Insurance at the right building, 50m on the right (Ground level) at 20,000 KIP for 7 days coverage.
              HUAY XAI / CHIANG KONG (LAOS-THAILAND FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE)
  
                        Huay Xai (Laos Side):
    • Stamp your passport at Immigration.
    • Please return "Vehicle Entering Permit" (Green Colour) to Custom Officer.
    • You need to pay 250,000 kip (RM 100) for them to escort you to Thailand Border (Chiang Kong), 1 km away by Custom's 4WD. I think this not their right procedure.


                  Chiang Kong (Thailand Side):
    • Fill up the Arrival / Departure Form (White Colour) at Immigration.
    • Stamp your passport at Immigration.
    • You need to pay 20 Thai Baht for each person at Immigration.
    • The Immigration officer will fill up the TM2 form for you. One copy of TM2, he/ she will give to you to be submitted at Sadao Border later. 
    • Please show him your grant and you need to give him one copy of your passport.
    • Go to Custom Counter, the officer will print out the "Vehicle Entering Permit". Sign it.
    • The officer will ask, one copy of grant and one copy of your passport.
    • You need to pay 20 Thai Baht here.


                 DANNOK, SADAO (MALAYSIA-THAILAND):
    • Stamp your passport and return the TM2 form that you bring from Chiang Kong Border. You need to pay RM 1 or 10 Thai baht - Counter No # 7
    • Return your "Vehicle Entering Permit" at Counter No # 9

  1. Assalammualikum ... came across your blog and im very impress on the details and effort you put in on sharing information on your recent ride up to Laos. Im sure alot of people have come across your blog and also used information that you had on your blog. I myself feels it is helping me alot for my future ride up to Laos with a clearer picture on how to clear the customs and immigration which is always a hassle without proper documentation and following the procedure of the country ur visitng. I will sure to check on your blogs for more info... tq and safe ride always

  5. This crucial travel document can be obtained in a variety of ways. An application can be completed at that actual Emergency passport agency. If any of the information on the application is missing, the process will be slowed down.
